Geez, that's the first traditional painting that I managed to get finished in 2010...
:phew:

In the end of 2009 I had a chance to listen to Adam Lambert's CD "For Your Entertainment". Personally I'm not that much into pop music, but some tracks from this one are really nice - and "Sleepwalker" is in my private 'top 3'. You can listen to this song here, if interested.

The fact is this track turned out to be very inspiring for me. I suddenly felt craving for painting someone, who would seem both unusual and very real... and to put this character on the roof.))) So I painted this; as you can see, most of the landscape doesn't seem real - yet the character himself, despite of his weird pose and plain shadowy black suit, is actually the most realistically painted object in this work.

I mixed polyvinylacetate and watercolour paint and used both brushes, pen and sponges in this one; add to this my usual painting on watercolour paper, and you get something with GREAT AMOUNT OF VARIOUS TEXTURES. I guess you can see the differences between (for example) plain black suit of the character and almost transparent blue thingies in the sky ^^

In conclusion I must admit, that teh painted character is:
1. ...not a vampire; he's just... slightly odd ^^
2. ...neither sad, nor slightly smiling; he's just... oh. Maybe both. Or maybe just pensive.
2. ...NEITHER MICHAEL SHEEN NOR ARO CHARACTER FROM "NEW MOON"!!! It's not some bloody fanart! O_o'

Ооо, на него реально страшно смотреть, особенно если бояться высоты. Думаешь, только бы та уже погнувшаяся под ним железяка не крякнула.

Ммм, спасибо огромное - мне он тоже (уже потом, уже в процессе) начал чисто внешне нравиться... но - успокою, - он по задумке легче пёрышка, так что не сверзнется, не страшно.))

Hooray for the first painting of the new year, I'll have to give this cd a listen, we always seem to have similar tastes so I'll take your word on it! ;)
