First of all, I must admit that this is an illustration - so it has a background story.))
The story is about some quite ordinary town with quite ordinary vampires, who manage not to bother the citizens most of time. On one troublesome day an annoyed town citizen enters a bistro and asks out loud, if there's a phone number of any vampire hunters in "yellow pages"... The weird thing is that some vamp hunter is revealed right at that time - quite occasionally it's a stranger, who's sitting at the same bistro.....
The stranger is a funny man, who refuses to reveal his origin, real name and true age. He is actually HELL afraid of any vampires, but there's more in him that meets the eye - so things begin to turn stranger and stranger...
The mentioned story is currently being written - and hopefully I'll be able to publish it on CityWatch website by the end of the following week. As for the painting... I have rather... erm... diverse feelings about it. GOOD THINGS: I love the colours. Really. It's my first time of painting something on toned paper, so I hope you like the technical side of this experiment.)) BAD THINGS: I hate the size. I didn't notice that the paper sheet was larger, than a normal A3, so, when it came up to making the painting digital, I had to take photo instead of scanning. Ergo, the quality is about to suck.(( ODD THINGS: Yes, he's drinking milk. Yes, he's a bit anatomically alike Bela B. Felsenheimer. Both things are written in the story - sorry to admit, it's Russian only.
Anyway... hope you like him. He was fun to portray.))
P.S.: Just for those who are interested in seeing the close views and the original sketch for this work... here comes the link to my scraps, feel free to follow it.)) Mind this: he's REALLY more handsome in close-up view ^^
I can't wait to read more about him, great picture, as always, the dark shadows of the face are an excellent indicator of the mystery surrounding this guy!
Thank you, dear! If I have time to do that, I'll try to translate the story into English (it's about 40 Word pages, in terms of Times New Roman, 12 pt.)) - or make a "spin-off". I completely fell in love with this character, really....)))
Just to add: painting on toned paper turned out to be... fascinating. Try it, if you have time; it's REALLY worth trying, just for the sake of process!
Oh, and I LOVE the carton of milk, it's so anticlimactic : D
